01

The challenge

MooodyCow came to the project with a site that needed a complete content and design overhaul. Case studies, services and blog content were spread inconsistently across the site, each page built slightly differently, and every update meant design work.

The harder requirement was the team behind it. Nobody on the client side is technical , and they needed full editorial control: publish a case study, write a blog post, update a service page, all without touching a page builder and without the design drifting.

Give a non-technical team a publishing platform, not a page builder.

02

What was built

A custom plugin and widget system. A purpose-built Elementor plugin with more than seventy widgets, designed from scratch for this site. Not a theme customisation, not a template pack: a version-controlled plugin with clean update paths that never break the live site.

A backend-driven case study system. The client fills in a structured edit screen in WordPress admin, presses publish, and a fully designed case study page appears on the live site. No layout decisions, no page building, no way to break the design.

The proof

Admin screen in. Designed page out.

03

Under the bonnet

A block-based blog builder. The same admin-to-live principle applied to editorial content. The team assembles rich posts from content blocks and every post comes out on-brand, without a designer in the loop.

Automatic case study linking. Case studies surface on the relevant service and product pages with zero manual linking. Publish a client win, and it appears exactly where a prospect evaluating that service will see it.

A real design system. Typography, colour tokens and a component library (two-tone headings, accent typography, card grids, hover states) built once and applied consistently across dozens of page types, on desktop, tablet and mobile.

Functional lead generation. AJAX-submitted forms with spam protection, conditional fields and confirmation emails, on contact and careers journeys alike.

Grown-up delivery. Staging-to-live workflows so the client reviews everything before it goes public, versioned plugin releases, and the unglamorous work too: CSS specificity conflicts, JavaScript positioning clashes and data serialisation bugs diagnosed and fixed at the root.

04

The outcome

The client team now publishes case studies, blog posts and service updates entirely independently, and the design stays consistent automatically. Proof points connect themselves to the pages where they persuade. The site grows without anyone phoning a developer.

That is the honest measure of this build: not a vanity metric, but a business that owns its own website in practice, not just on paper.

The client publishes. The design holds. The developer is optional.
